Typical Industry Use Cases
Our load cells, weighing sensors and weighing modules are used in mission-critical process industries wherever reliable weight data drives better inventory control, accurate dosing and stable operations. Load cells are selected to suit the load, operating environment and installation conditions. For stable measurement results, correct load introduction and proper integration into the weighing module are crucial. In practice, the weighing module is often integrated as a compact module into scale or plant concepts.
- Cement:
Silo/Tank Weighing for Inventory Management and consumption tracking, plus dosing in batching and formulation tasks – also for silo weighing in retrofit projects. - Metals & Minerals:
Robust weighing solutions for bins hoppers, tanks and process equipment designed to withstand force and vibration to support material balance, reporting and stable production conditions. - Alternative Fuels:
Accurate weighing and dosing for buffering, feeding and transfer process-helping reduce deviations and improve documentation of consumption. - Power:
Weight-based measurements for fuel and material handling to enable transparent inventory, reliable replenishment planning and efficiency-focused operation. - Mining:
Rugged weighing components for hoppers, bins, and conveyors—supporting reliable inventory transparency, mass-balance tracking, and stable process control even in harsh, abrasive environments. - Manufacturing (Glass & Paper):
Precise weighing for raw materials, additives, and intermediate storage—helping stabilize dosing and batching, reduce give-away and material losses, and support consistent product quality across continuous production lines.
Depending on the application and plant design, installation and safety requirements can vary. For a stable set-up, factors such as load introduction and the connection points are key. For the design, for example, an upper connection or a customer-provided lifting lug may be relevant. The appropriate load cells are used based on the load range, required accuracy and the operating environment; in many systems, one load cell is provided per support point. Depending on the version, protective features such as lift-off protection can be added. In addition, further functions or interfaces can be incorporated to suit the project, and accessories can be added as required. In standardised platforms, components are sometimes planned as modular building blocks and integrated into the machine design during installation to ensure stable measurements under force.
Process Optimization & Cost Reduction
“When weight is available as a control variable, processes can be controlled faster and more reliable to reduce overfill and material loss. In practice even small overdosing amounts can add up significantly in production.”
-
Continuous process monitoring and automated control loops
-
Shorter changeover and ramp-up times to defined target weights
-
Less material loss in transfer and conveying processes
-
Reduce give-away in filling and packaging processes
-
Weight-based functions can be added to existing plants

Frequently Asked Questions
Qlar weighing components combine robust mechanical design, reliable measurement performance, and application know-how. They are designed for demanding industrial environments and can be integrated into a wide range of weighing systems.
They can be used in many industrial weighing applications, including hopper scales, crane scales, cargo scales, coil scales, truck scales, big-bag weighing, vessel weighing, and other process-related systems. The right component depends on the load, installation concept, and operating conditions.
Accuracy and stability depend on the overall mechanical design, correct load introduction, mounting conditions, temperature effects, and external forces. Proper installation and calibration are also essential for reliable long-term performance.
RTN load cells are typically used where high accuracy, proven load cell technology and legal-for-trade compliance are required.
WB weighbeams and the WD weighdisc are preferred in harsh industrial environments such as steel plants, where a compact, robust, and mechanically integrated solution is required.
We typically need information about the application type, total load, dead load, installation setup, support points, and required accuracy. Environmental and process conditions are also important for selecting the right solution.
