Torpedo train scales are special rolling stock scales for heavy loads in steelworks.

The extreme environment requires both robust and specially adapted weighing equipment for the various applications.

Torpedo train scales transport the liquid pig iron from the blast furnace to the steelworks as well as to external factories. The adapted weighing equipment, for example, monitors the filling weight, helps to track materials and is required for billing.

Depending on the rail vehicle, material and the particular environment, Schenck Process provides customised solutions:

• for installing the load-bearing capacity into the vehicle: RTN load cells and DWB weighbeams

• for weighing tracks with DWB weighbeams between rail and sleeper
• for conventional weighbridges
• for bogies or complete vehicles
