Hopper scales are mounted on load cells to determine the net weight and/or content.
For example, they can establish the weight of bunkers, tanks, stirrer vessels, reactors, ball mills, mixers or dispersers.
Factors such as optimum assembly and installation of hoppers and load cells are key to the accuracy of the results obtained.
What is known as batching mode is used to control filling / discharge of product into / out of the hoppers. A process control system specifies the nominal value and the product volume actually fed is reported back to the system once the process is complete.
The product is fed in coarse and fine flow or using analogue control. Evaluation and/or weighing electronics control the feeding process.
