As well as preventing derailments, through the measurement of noise emissions they also help to make rail transport more acceptable to residents. MULTIRAIL Train Monitoring accurately diagnoses the wheels while the train is in motion, checking for circularity deviations, vertical wheel forces and load distributions. The system identifies vehicles that could damage the track due to excessive dynamic forces or overloading.
MULTIRAIL Wayside Train Monitoring is designed as an innovative modular diagnostic system for rail vehicles. It provides measurements for weight, wheel impacts, out of round wheels and noise emission by using “full circumference scan” technology. The early recognition of vehicle defect prevents accidents and helps maintaining tracks and vehicles to generate enormous saving potentials in track utilization and maintenance. The high-precision MULTIRAIL measuring technology enables the forces and accelerations between wheel and rail to be acquired quickly and accurately.
The results are used to determine location and size of imperfections by single wheels, or complete wagons. The diagnostic system identifies vehicles which have the potential to damage the track through dynamic forces or overload.
Equipment
The modular design allows the free combination of different measurement and evaluation tasks either at initial installation or as later upgrade. For most modules there is no additional track work required.
